Anything permanent counts — a shed, a garage, a workshop, an old garden room.

Could someone get to the far end of the garden without going through the house?

Down the side passage, say — and wide enough for a wheelchair as well as on foot. It has to stay inside your own boundaries.

Would it need its own new gate or entrance from the road?

Most gardens are reached through the existing driveway or side gate. This is asking about cutting a new opening onto a public road.

Where would its water and drains come from?

Plumbed off the existing house, or brought in separately?

Does the property use a septic tank?

Rather than mains drainage. Common outside towns. If yes, Atlas will simply flag it for checking — you do not need to know anything technical about it.

Is the house a protected structure, or in a conservation area?

Most houses are neither. If you have never been told otherwise, “not sure” is the honest answer and Atlas will treat it as something to check.
